Hey guys. Welcome to the August issue. We have been busy lately doing fun summer stuff like soaking up the sun in the Outer Banks for a week, tubing down a kick ass creek by our house, checking out some great shows and just enjoying life.
In the last couple weeks, I have also been getting the S-10 back together to actually enjoy it, instead of it just being a dust collector in the Old Man's garage. Last weekend she rolled out of the garage for the first time in almost two years and it felt killer to drive it down the road again. We took it to a show in Carlisle and then checked out a local cruse night. The cruse night was put on by a Mustang club and it was pretty much just their club, so we didn't really fit in, but they did love the truck. It did fairly well for its maiden voyage, other then a few bugs to work out and a squeak or two from some dried out belts. It was perfect timing though because I just picked up my new issue of Minitruckin' and saw that the article that Chicken did on the old girl finally made it in! Chicken did a kick as job with the photos and article and Mike is doing a great job with the mag; thanks guys.
Now, on to another topic of conversation. I was looking around the web the other day and came to a realization that there are a shit load of online magazines out there. I know, a little late on this epiphany, but what do you do. What is cool though is that each site has a little something different and unique, which is good thing.
One thing that was a little unnerving though was that I noticed that some magazines seem to have borrowed their ideas and concepts straight for other magazines. This sucks, but I guess it happens sometimes... they do say imitation is the best form of flattery. It's just pretty crappy when someone works really hard to be original and someone just up and steals the concept as their own.
As the web grows and progresses, it will get harder and harder to come up with new ideas and concepts to set a magazine apart from all the others. That is just life I guess. With all those other sites out there, we decided to change our direction a little from a basic custom magazine and I think its been a good thing. We have brought you guys some special edition flash flip books that I feel have been a big hit! Everybody I talk to loves these babies, especially January's issue. We added some new sections and are working a few others that I feel will add that special "not your typical on-line magazine" thing that we are trying to accomplish. We hope you enjoy all the great features, shows and "extra content" that we have been providing for the last couple years. It has been a ot of work but the people we meet and produce the magazine for is what makes us look back and say it was all worth it.
Later guys!
