Wildwood, Wild in Deed

There seems to be no better show to cover in our first issue than Roar to the Shore in Wildwood, New Jersey. Wildwood was the first show we all went to as a group called P&OM.

The crew met up outside Harrisburg, PA, and after packing all the equipment into the cars, we started our convoy to Jersey. The four bikes were itchin' to tear up the interstate but we had to wait for the cars, so we couldn't play too much.

Mid-afternoon, we rolled into North Wildwood. There were bikes everywhere, everything from mild to wild. Every street, alley, and parking lot was parked full, footpeg to footpeg. The smell of rubber burning filled the air. Although out-numbered, the sport bikes let their presence be known with the occasional rev-limiter burnout; nothing sounds like a CBR or a GSXR lighting them up in a town full of Harleys.

There were some great bikes in town for the festivities. The show at the Wildwood Convention Center was no less impressive. I saw everything from mopeds to Boss Hoss's, chopper Hondas to some of the craziest big V-Twin bikes I've ever seen. I don't know about the rest of the P&OM crew but I felt a little out of place riding my '02 Suzuki SV-650. There were other sport bikes in town, but we were out-numbered probably 100 to 1. Though out-numbered, we weren't treated like outcasts, just guys on bikes.

Saturday, our last night in town, the guys left the P&OM girls at the hotel and went downtown. Wildwood was one big party. As we walked down Rio Grande Avenue everyone was funneling into this one building, the Bolero Hotel, so of course we followed. What was in there you may ask? Well, shoulder-to-shoulder bikers getting drunk watching girls jump out of the crowd and onto the bar to see how much skin they could bare. I was blinded by the thousands of camera flashes, especially the official P&OM cameraman standing beside me.

One note to the readers, be good if you go above 23rd street into North Wildwood. While we sat on the balcony of our hotel we watched cops bust anybody and everybody for doing almost anything. The downtown cops were much more lenient.

As with all good things it had to come to an end. What a weekend - bikes, beer, and bros (the essential three B's) - who could ask for anything more. To sum it up we had a great time and recommend this show to anyone who has a bike or just loves the lifestyle.
