The P&OM crew has known the lead drummer and the new guitarist of Dingleberry Shortcake for many, many years - so it's only natural we asked them to be our first band feature. The four members of Dingleberry Shortcake - Clifford (guitar and vocals), Dustin (guitar and vocals), Jake (drums and vocals) and Keith (bass and vocals) - have been playing together in local Harrisburg and York area venues for four years.

We caught their show at Angelina's Restaurant & Bar, located along the Susquehanna River across from downtown Harrisburg. (See their set-up at www.angelinas.net) This is a great venue Dingleberry Shortcake plays, and the crowd always welcomes them back. In fact, one of their most memorable shows was their performance the day before Labor Day '03 at Angelina's. But don't worry - they swear every show ends up being memorable in some way. (I know that this writer had a great time at the show - and learned that in the future she should drink a little less when knowing she needs to write about what she saw at a bar!)

Dingleberry Shortcake has their share of groupies that follow them from show to show - the Duncannon Divas. (You can see more of the Divas under our assorted pics) But Dingleberry is generous in saying that their biggest fans are all the crowd members. "We love everyone that supports us. Without all of them coming out week after week and having a blast and partying, there is no reason to play our hearts out every show."

So how did the dance/rock cover band come to be? The first time that Keith, Jake and Clifford jammed together they knew that they had something. Dustin's first show was the night we interviewed them, but he looked like he had been there all along. But where did "Dingleberry Shortcake" come from? The guys were attached to the word Dingleberry - just throwing it around to see what worked with it - and Shortcake sounded the best. Plus, "you will never forget it and it's funny."
