Harley Open House

The 2003 19th Annual York Open House at Harley Davidson in York, Pennsylvania was held September 18-20, 2003; a wonderfully fall-like Autumn weekend. With past attendance soaring well over 40,000, there is never a dull moment.

The festivities began on Friday evening with York Bike night and a parade through the town of York with hundreds of bikes, live entertainment, and plenty of people to watch it all. It rained on Friday evening, which did dampen some spirits, but there was still tons to see and do.

When Joe and I arrived at the York Expo Center Saturday morning, there was so much do and see...where to begin! A nice start was mingling with the 350 vendors that were peddling everything you could possibly think of. The show is dominated by five specific vendors though - Appalachian Harley-Davidson of New Kingstown, Lancaster Harley-Davidson/Buell out of Lancaster, Laugerman's Harley Davidson out of York, Susquehanna Valley Harley-Davidson/Buell of Harrisburg, and White's Harley-Davidson/Buell of Lebanon. They have created an empire of HD products that can be bought, wrapped, and shipped on home with just a tiny swipe of your credit card.

In addition, the York Harley-Davidson plant is open to attendees to tour so that you can see exactly how they make the 100-year old classic which can be heard from miles away. This is a must-see experience for anyone who hasn't taken the tour before! By the way, the York plant is the largest HD facility, with more than 3,200 employee/riders.
