I know that you’ve heard me say it before, but one more time never hurts - LR
End of Summer Bash is one of my favorite shows of the year. Maybe it’s because
it’s just one of those shows where no real “work” gets done, and maybe that’s
because I spend a lot of that time being intoxicated. But, hey, isn’t that what truck
shows are all about?
This year’s EOSB was held August 20-21 in Woodstown NJ at the same ol’
Salem County Fairgrounds that we’ve come to love for the past nine years. We were
going to head out early Friday afternoon - in hopes of making it to the hotel before
dark. But we knew that wasn’t going to happen when we decided to cruise with
Pecker & Rich, and we were still in Amish country at 6:30. After Pecker stopped a few
inches short of backing into Pudge’s truck in the driveway, we were off.
We got to the hotel, and found the parking lot a RA party in full swing. I had a
splitting headache (from lack of food that was all Pudge’s fault) so we hit the road to find
some food. Deciding on Denny’s, I ate, and was happy, and then got to be a part of
“the brother that was being held hostage by the cashier because his boyz had
bounced and stuck him with the $15 tab and only $4 in his pockets”. We chilled at the
hotel a little more, and then hit the beds.
Saturday morning, we headed “directly to the showfield” and managed to
register at the last minute. We set up the tent, and Pudge & Duval headed off to
shoot Easterby’s truck - actually, I think Pudge shot it and Duval played with Easterby’s
kid.
Anyways, the day flew by, and before I knew it, the wet-t shirt contest had
arrived. In the past, there had been some controversy as to how far the girls could go
with their antics. To solve the problem, the contest was moved to a local strip club.
Getting my spot on the stage (only to take pictures!), the contest only ended up with a
four person turnout. LR staff should learn not to play the previous year’s contest while
the girls are waiting to go out on the stage - they had half a dozen back out! Needless
to say, it was quite a short contest. We hung out a while, and the guys got some
cheap thrills while Ashley & I critiqued the pros.
We headed back to the hotel, got some pizza, threw food at random vehicles,
hotel signs, the hotel itself, and of course, got some dragging footage. After that, the
parade of drunk vehicles going from hotel to hotel all over New Jersey began. This is
also where some of the biatch slapping (without baby powder) was first seen. And
where Rich almost kissed Cain - and where Cain freaked out!
Sunday morning, we awoke to a leisurely breakfast, headed “directly to the
showfield”, and chilled, recapping the previous night’s activities. Around this time,
Pecker started to sober up for the drive home to PA after having been drunk for the
previous two days.
We made the painfully slow trip home; Sunday afternoon in Amish country with
a whole lot of buggy’s on the road. Next year will be ten years for the EOSB, and the
LR crew is sure to pull out all the stops for that anniversary! Check out more details at
