Domination the Movie. Anyone who has been to a decent size truck show - on the east coast, west coast, midwest, or down under - knows who's capturing the antics that go down for the next Domination video. Oliver Porter, please come forward!

So, you don't need us to review this video and tell you how great it is. I'm willing to bet that the majority of you have already have seen it - and a large percentage own it. For those of you that don't, wake up from your hibernation, fork over the money, and get your copy of World Tour - the best two-disk DVD that will answer all your parents questions of why you have so much fun going to truck shows.

But, what I wanted to know is where Domination came from. And asking only that one question, after 48 minutes, I had more information than I could share without doing a trilogy.

Oliver started with regular ol' still photography. Then, he wanted to see that photography in motion. He had some experience from working with Low Life video on their first two productions, but he's the type that wants to be his own boss, and in charge. So, he branched off to take a shot at going at it alone. The vision was to produce a minitruck video for minitruckers, that was made by a minitrucker. To produce the best, the baddest possible DVD, so that when people saw it, they only thought of Domination. And that is where the title came from; the desire to dominate over all other minitruck videos.

The first video that was produced, Domination Invasion, was just something to improve upon. Since Oliver had never filmed before, he really didn't have any idea of what was going to happen, and the reaction that he received was completely unexpected. You always hope to produce something of quality - we all do it when starting out on a new project - but this was something much bigger. This video was produced by a guy just like you, that just wanted to give people on the outside world an opportunity to see what this community is all about. It's never been about setting out to make a fortune - it's about the passion that Oliver has for the lifestyle that he loves, and that he will continue to be a part of, Domination Video or not.

But why minitrucks? Why not sport compacts, or motorcycles, or even extreme sports? Well, for one, have you seen Oliver? Unless endless drinking has been inducted into the X-Games (and it should be!), he's not that athletic. However, back to the point, which is that I was told that the minitruck culture is the most innovative of all vehicle modification scenes. The thought process, the way that the lifestyle is captured, the mentality of the owners - it all comes around full spectrum to show the lives that we eat, breath & sleep - at least from May through October.

And, we finally talked a little bit about the World Tour video. The reason that it ended up being a two disk DVD set is because of the amount of footage that was shot - for it to have been cut, it would have taken too much away from the feel of the shows and features. This is the first minitruck video with footage from Australia that was produced in the states, and it has the broadest range of coverage. So, no matter where you are, there is going to be a show on this DVD that is only a few hours away from you - something that you can relate to. Also, World Tour boasts the only video coverage of the 2005 Drop Zone after party - named the Show of the Year.

So, now that you know a little more about the man behind the camera, get the popcorn, and get ready for the next installment, which is coming soon, as well as a brand new redesigned website (www.dominationthevideo.com). And say hi to Oliver the next show that you see him at; it's those chance greetings that have lead to some of his best friendships!
