Mike Hayes has an awesome bike. It's not like the bikes that most of you ride, and it requires a little more work to reach top speeds, but it still commands respect. Make has poured as much blood sweat and tears into his bike as all of you have into your motorcycles, mini-trucks, and imports - and not nearly as many people see his work of art.

In 2000, Mike started building his Cherry Twist masterpiece when he was hanging out with the guys in Lancaster Lowriders. He started with a 2000 Aztlan Cruiser frame that sits nicely with a 4" drop. Last year he added 144 spoke 20" wheels - and that is as many spokes as you can get on a 20" wheel!

Next, things got crazy and twisted! The forks, sissy bar, fender braces, steering wheel and mirrors all were flat twisted. Adding a custom seat & pedal covers by Mega-Low Riders out of Sacramento gives the bike its color.

Since Mike works at Checkered Past, which is full of vintage clothing, he had to add the vintage Schwinn badge and the Schwinn sparkle grips. And take notice of the cherries that adorn the grips - they are actually cherry toe rings.

But this isn't the end of Mike's journey...he has a lot of plans, some of which are top secret. So the next time that you are cuisin' through Palmyra, make sure that the kid that you are planning on running off of the road in your car isn't really a grown man just cruisin' the strip.
