Bobstar Customs is a pioneer in the custom metric motorcycle industry. Thinking “outside of the box”, the builders at Bobstar Customs are revolutionizing the ability to convert stock Yamaha Road Star’s into custom choppers.

After 20 years of building custom choppers as a hobby, the founders of Bobstar Customs; Bob Gray, Don Gray, and Tom Metcalf turned their passion into a partnership. In April of 2003, they formed Bobstar Customs in Nashville, Tennessee. They saw that the market was in need of a company that could produce customizing frames and parts for metric bikes; specifically, the Yamaha Road Star.

Since opening their doors two year ago, they have created three bikes that are getting acclaim from fellow bike builders, press, and fans alike.

The Titan was developed to demonstrate a “one-of” ability to customize a chopper for corporate and individual buyers. The hometown favorite of Nashville, the Titan captures the spirit of its namesakes football team with a seat made from an actual NFL football that was split in half and the paint scheme designed to match their colors. The guts of the motorcycle contain a Harley engine, RC Components frame, custom manufactured wheels, pegs, and logos.

The second custom to roll out of the shop is the Pink Floyd chopper, a work that Bob and Don took great pride in creating. This 1970’s Honda 750 has had added modern day components to the four cylinder, which has achieved it national recognition.

And the final production was the Bobstar Road Star Cruiser. The guys started with a stock ‘01 Road Star, made mods to the body & frame to accommodate the new inverted 63mm front end, and put on a 200 rear tire, custom LED brake lights, and custom Bobstar wheels.

A complete replacement bolt-on frame for a stock Road Star was the end result to be achieved. A custom swing arm assembly followed the frame out of the production line, and close behind were the accessory parts: axle cover 63 mm front ends, Bobstar wheels, and triple trees. But don’t worry, there is still much more coming from this young company.
