Pudge decided to get his truck out of the comforts of the garage and show it for
Carlisle All-GM Nationals the weekend of June 24-26 this year. He and Duval
headed over to the show on Saturday, with 28,000 other attendees, to register the
truck and check out the activities taking place.
During the weekend, attendees were able to see a display of race cars that
were driven by Dale Earnhardt Sr., including the C5-R that was raced by Dale Sr. &
Jr. at the 24 Hours of Daytona race in 2001.
While spectators walked the fairgrounds to view the 961 show vehicles that
came from across the country, numbers were being tallied by the Carlisle staff. Those
numbers added up to announce that the Greater Northeast Impala SS Club brought
the most members to the show, earning them a trophy and cash prize; First
Generation Monte Carlo Club came in second, and Mid-Atlantic Impala Association
came in third.
One of the most known of the GM’s is the Camaro. The American Camaro
Association hosted its seventh year gathering at Carlisle, drawing in almost 500
Camaros.
Any attendee to a Carlisle event is sure to get excited by the car give-a-ways
that are held. Sitting in the grandstands, holding on to your ticket while they announce
those first few numbers gets a spike in anyone’s heart rate. Bill Baylor of Mount
Solon, VA was the big winner this time, getting to go home with a 1987 Oldsmobile
Cutlass Supreme. Bill, along his wife Jane, have enjoyed attending Carlisle events
for over ten years - its time that they got a little something back!
GM-Nationals is a wonderful opportunity for generations of car lovers to come
together and enjoy their sport; if you would like to be part of the family reunion next
year, plan a trip to Carlisle June 23-25, 2006. For more details, check out
