ImportWar 2X took place on June 19th and 20th this year at Ski Roundtop in Lewisberry, PA, which is right in our backyard. Duval attended Saturday, which was a voluntary show day. Anyone who chose to participate in the charity event could show their car, be judged by the public with $1.00 per vote, and then all proceeds went to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.
On Sunday, the serious competition began. The base of a huge ski hill made a perfect backdrop for a gorgeous summer day. Duval, Brian, Pudge, and myself spent the day at the show, scoping out the scene. There was the constant backdrop of the Hip-Hop/Rap competition that took place between almost a dozen solo artists and groups.
Attendees could test their aim by taking a pitch at the girls in the dunk tank. Later in the afternoon, a bikini contest took place, with the first place contestant reserving her spot in a 2005 calendar photo-shoot in Cancun. Elsewhere, registrants got to test their car’s performance on the Dyno.
The vendors that set up around the perimeter of the show lot showed wares from videos to cleaning products and jewelry to tools. There was an area to play volleyball and Frisbee, something not often found at Import shows, but it was taken advantage of by bored family members that had been drug along.
This was another NCCA sanctioned event, and the best of show award went to Eddie Farcon for his BMW M3 - look for Eddie’s feature that we shot at this show in an upcoming issue. The best team participation award was a tie awarded to Optical Illusion and WR Team, but WR took the win when it came to best team results.
As the day started to slow down, we looked around to see who we would like to feature - and found four cars. You have already seen Shawn’s Cabriolet, and this month we have brought to you Jeremy’s Cavalier with Meyli, but we still have two more features from this show to bring you!
