Carlisle All-Truck Nationals was held the first weekend in August this year, and it
brought out over 1,600 trucks to the Fairgrounds. This show used to be one of the
top minitruck shows in the community, but with the lack of quality rides that are being
built today, the show was dominated by 4X4s and big-rigs.
The show offered a little something for everyone, including the customary
high/low contests, burnout competitions and the hydraulic hop. Furthermore, a rock
crawl was available where 4-wheel rides could perform by mastering the boulders that
were precisely assembled. Rides in the Virginia Giant and the Hulk entertained the
kiddies, a wing-eating contest filled contestants up, and a performance by Cledus T.
Judd on Saturday evening caused the audience to roar.
New to All-Truck Nats this year was the National Association of Show Trucks.
They gave entrants extra outlets to perform in with the Non-Working, Working Bobtail,
and Working Combination classes.
For attendees that were still working on making their rides show worthy, a swap
meet brought 581 vendors selling multitudes of parts that can only be found at such a
meet.
So, now that you know the “official” happenings of All-Truck Nationals, check out
the second part of the article where the unofficial story unfolds!
