So, you’ve heard about all the exciting events that the Carlisle staff provided
during All-Truck Nationals this year. Here’s how I remember the show going....
We arrived Saturday morning in Pudge’s truck, and got a pretty good spot on
the hill by the road. Soon, Mike Dubie and Matt Robertson were parked with us, and
the tent had been put up.
I had brought to the show a bottle of Dr. McGillicuddy’s peppermint schnapps
and a bottle of chocolate syrup....and anyone who has been around me with that
combination knows that no good - or work - is going to come out of it!
So I started my day off, and all was well. Somewhere along the line, time flew
by, and it was lunchtime already. So we sat down to eat with the Rich, Bobby &
Ashley, Huppie, Nat, and Duval & Saree. This was the first weekend that the guys
had met Duval’s new girlfriend, and they had a few questions for her - her thoughts on
threesomes, same sex kisses, Duval as a boyfriend...you know - the usual.
So then it was afternoon already, and I continued my pilgrimage to carry around
my two bottles and share with anyone that was (or wasn’t) interested in drinking with
me. Here is where I apologize for pouring liquor and chocolate syrup in anyone’s
mouth that really didn’t want to take a shot. But at some points, it’s just better to take
the shot than to try to say no to me. I recall that Dougie Fresh learned this the hard
way, and ended up taking the shot anyways!
So, it was the trips back and forth between Pudge’s truck up on the hill, and the
RA trucks that were over by the e-bay building that got me my exercise for the day.
And, from what I understand, I apparently wasn’t taking the direct straight route, even
along paved roads. My route was more of a meandering sway from the left side of
the road to the right side back to the left...well, you get the point.
And, speaking of Pudge - he’s the guy that I saw in the beginning of the day,
who then washed his hands of me for the day. He picked me up off of the ground at
the end of the day where I had passed out under the tent and drove me home, with
specific instructions that if I was going to be sick (which I was) to give him plenty of
warning to pull over (which I did).
So, if you want to know how All-Truck Nationals was this past year, I’ll tell you
that it was much like my recollection of Low Rollers 2004. And those were my two
favorite shows in the past two years!
